22-april-2007-daffodills-004.jpgI am lucky enough to call a small stone cottage in the Orne region of Normandy home. We have been extending our cottage so now I have a large kitchen, albeit not fully complete, where I can indulge my passion for cooking. The weekly markets are a source of wonderful ingredients as well as providing a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the people among whom we live.

I hope this site will be of benefit to the beginner food enthusiast, perhaps not familiar with terminology and cooking techniques. I also hope that new arrivals in France, in particular, will find some useful information about shopping for and cooking with french ingredients. We should try to learn how to cook some french dishes but should not feel guilty about wanting to prepare our food favourites from home when we choose.

Delighted to find a website on the Orne. Looking forward, over the next few months, to finding lots of mouth-watering recipes to try. Living in France, and the Orne in particular, was a startling change to our busy lives in England. But the pace is now part of our daily lives. Good luck, and keep up the good work!!
